How does the Gem Mining Sluice work?
This is one of our most exciting additions to the farm. Gem miners buy a bag of mining sand. We have several different bags available from $5 to $25. Each bag contains a variety of gems and in some bags fossils and a geode. Miners then put their bag of sand into a tray and into the water of the sluice and find their treasures as the sand washes away. Included in the activity is a collection bag for the gems and an identification card to help discover what each gem is. The Gem Mining activity has been a huge hit at the farm so far and we are sure you’ll love it too. Some of the bigger bags can be shared between several people.
Will things be different because of COVID-19?
Some things yes, but the farm is big and we have lots of space and fresh air so it makes it a great place to do fun activities. Read about our covid-19 protocols here.
